Combination Tool for Lewis Machine Gun

A combination tool incorporating a spring tension gauge, punch and very unusual screwdriver.

The body is brass, the balance polished steel.  The gauge is marked from 1 to 20 pounds in 1/2 pound increments.  Both punch and driver are drilled so that a string can be threaded through and the gauge used. Broad arrow marked.  OAL 4 15/16"

Manufacturer's mark SALTER with an S incorporated within the logo.

May be stamped MADE IN ENGLAND (the example above is not).  Rifles exported from England post WWI (1914-1918) were required to be so marked.

If you've ever fretted about breaking the rear upper handguard of a SMLE as you tried to gently prise it from the barrel, you'll want to have this tool handy.  The curved and rounded screwdriver (above, left) is PERFECT for levering the handguard off without splitting the wood.  An absolute must have in your SMLE toolbox.
