Short, Magazine, Lee-Enfield (SMLE), Rifle No.1 Mk III*. RSAF Enfield, 1918. Matched (bolt, receiver, barrel, backsight & nosecap) serial number C2332.   Barrel installation date 1918.  Buttstock marking disc stamped 1/1 K.A.R. 10/18 over 463.  Back of the marking disc unmarked.  No import marks on rifle, indicating arrival in the US prior to 1968. Overall VG, bore surprisingly sharp and bright. Wood has several hairline cracks (rear forestock, handguard, triggerwell) and a few more than the usual number of dings and dents. Virtually all small parts EFD marked except brass buttplate, which has a BSA inspection mark. Barrel marked with a D in a circle, indicating a draw lapped barrel (LES pg. 480).
NOTE #1:
The left side of the backsight bed is marked with the
Ð Enfield logo. Although not officially adopted until 1925 (LoC A758), it was already in use in 1918.

NOTE #2: The underside of the stock wrist is stamped with a round mark, one-half inch in diameter, which we were unable to identify.

NOTE #3: Most of the WWI SMLE barrels we have encountered are stamped HV, signifying that they have been sighted in for the Mk VII High Velocity round.  Interestingly, this barrel is unmarked.
