Rifle 169
Marked on disk “FMSP” – Federated Malay States Police. The Federated Malay States was the designation of British Malaya prior to 1946 when the Federation of Malaya was formed. A really good hard core colonial police unit similar to the Royal Burma Police described by George Orwell in his autobiographical novel “Burmese Days”. I’m only just beginning to get into the Malayan stuff. Overall 90% finish. Bore sharp and clean. Wood VG. Matched. No import marks.

Rifle 173
SMLE, Rifle No.1 Mk III* BSA 1916 Marked on disk “PWVR” – Province Wellesley Volunteer Rifles. The PWVR was formed in 1915 from the Penang and Province Wellesly Volunteer Rifles which was a “planters rifles” volunteer regiment from the Penang area in Malaya. The PWVR was disbanded in 1921 which gives us a date range on the weapon. Overall 85% finish. Bore sharp and clean. Wood VG. Matched. No import marks.
