An interesting wooden box, about 6.5" long by 4.5" wide and 2" high (16.5 x 10.5 x 5.0 cm) with a brass thumb plate inscribed as above. Stamped 354 on the back. (AM is for Air Ministry, the organization charged with managing British air forces and defences 1918 - 1964.)
The velvet-lined box interior contains the inspection tool and accompanying devices. The body of the scope is stamped with the same description found on the box exterior (as detailed above). Detailed pic are below.
